Department of Geography

        Jayaprakash Education Society’s Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College PethVadgaon was established in 1979. The founder of the institution was former MLAAdvocate Nanasaheb Mane. He established college in 1979. There was no facilityof education in Vadgaon area. The college was having majority of the departmentsexcept Geography. As per the demand of the students, Geography subject was started in the year 2006-2007 in the college. The department of Geography  startedin the year 2010. Many students of the department are working in differentgovernment and semi-government departments as well as in agriculture, industry,teaching, and law sectors. Student-centric programs are implemented on behalf ofthe department. Every year, social awareness programs are conducted. Thestudents of geography department participate in these programs.

 

Aim 

(1) To acquaint the pupils with the living conditions of men in different parts of the globe.

(2) To enable the pupils to acquire a knowledge of natural resources.

(3) To develop in pupils an understanding of how environment and climatic factors have influenced our life.

(4) To help the pupils to acquire knowledge of their physical and social environment and thus to broaden their outlook.

(5) To develop in them an understanding of basic concepts, principles and theories relating to geographical phenomena.

(6) To train the pupils in nature study.

(7) To develop the power of thinking, reasoning, memory and power of imagination of pupils.

(8) To develop their ability to draw conclusions and to generalize.

(9) To develop a love for nation and to develop cosmopolitan and internationalist outlook.

(10) To develop the creative talents of pupils and to develop an attitude of discovery in them.

 

 

OBJECTIVES

 

1.To familiarize themselves with the terminologies & key concepts.

2.To analyze the inter-relationship among physical, human environment as well as  their impact on human society.

3.To deal with the issues related to environment, socio- economic-political concerns at local or global level.

4.To develop Geographical skills to collect, process and analyze data for preparing report, maps, and graphs and to give inference.

5.Geography as a Discipline Explores:

7.fact and cause relationship of physical and human features at different domains.

 8.the distribution pattern of physical and human resources.

9.various methodologies like field survey, data

10.analysis and interpretation through systematic and regional approaches.
